Pre-End-o'-the-Year Adventures.

(I realize it has room for pictures, but those will come later. KEEP YOUR PANTS ON!!)

Here's the basic low-down on the last couple months:

11/24 thru 11/26-Allison came home with me for Thanksgiving. It was so much fun! I love that girl!! Here are pictures from said advench:

This held up traffic for a while. Dumb.

Derner Ready!!
11/30-It snowed in Boise. A lot. For Boise. So, after seeing Jesse Fusselman for the last time in at least 2 years (probably more), and it being the opportune moment, we, (we being Wes Clark, and I) having made a pact that we would go Hookybobbing the first chance we get, went hookybobbing!! So we took the second chance we got and made a party out of it! Lucy Mercado, Jessica Taylor (who is Jim's sister) and Beth Layton came along with us. We tore up the Warm Springs church's parking lot. There were some sweet 360s thrown, by yours truly, and even some air was caught, on purpose (except the first time) by both Wes and I. Here is the proof of that:

12/4-I like to save things in case I need them in the future. I had saved every paper I had received over the last two years of schooling (plus some) in a box. The box was full to the brim and was lucky to be able to close it. Logan had a bonfire Saturday night and so I took the box along with me to throw that Mother into the fire. (I may or may not have pyromaniacal tendencies) I did just that. I took papers out, and one by one threw them into the fire. Then I had the idea to throw them into the fire from the box. I should have looked through it first because my chemistry binder from high school was in there...oops. After having it out with the fire and 2 years of wasted time, some of the kids wanted to go sledding. Logan and Dalli aired up their tube (for tubing on the lake) and took it to the mound of dirt they have in their front pasture and the boys went crazy! I got one picture then decided I was hungry. So I took Benny and we went to Taco Bell. When I got back, people were getting ready to head out to Kuna Caves to do some spelunking. We got dirty! But it was fun. My pants are stained. We had quite a few people there and some were bored, but eff them! I liked it! Afterward, a few of us went to IHOP for some breakfast. There were drunk guys there....all in a good nights morning... Anyways, here're the pics:

Box o' papers

Wednesday

here's some random thoughts for you...

so, I realized it's been about, oh, like FOREVER since I blogged.
obviously the whole "being thankful for one person each day" thing worked out amazingly.
because I haven't done it in like 4 months.
I am pleased to announce, however, that my blog is being read by people. Truly. Even by people I'm not even friends with anymore. Crazy. (and yes, you are a creep because I haven't talked to you since May and haven't been friends with you for even longer than that, and you read my blog. CREEPY.)

Today I'm going to be thankful for things, like having a computer to mess around on, having friends to keep me grounded and remind me what's important in life. *Cough, Logan* I'm thankful for having a washer and dryer in my house so I don't have to pay for to do my laundering...I'm most thankful for underpants straight out of the dryer. It puts a HUGE smile on my face when I put them on. mmmm....warm panties. I am very super thankful for Sister Tanner. She is AMAZING!! She does so much for the Institute and no one even knows it! I'm thankful for the best roommate in the entire earth. I love Carrie Brocksopp! She really is THE BEST roommate I could ever ask for. She better not get married before I have to leave because I couldn't handle the loss. I'm thankful for my mom. I'm thankful for everything she does for me. I'm thankful for her tolerance of when I need more money because I overspend way too much. I think she feels kind of bad that I'm not getting paid, so that helps the cause, but I need to be looking for a job instead of doing this.........
.....................
I'm thankful for Bro. Spjute. He is an amazing person, as well as teacher. He can bring the spirit into any situation and uplift even the most down-trodden soul. Bro. Evans is the same way. He has the best memory I have ever encountered. He has a special way of making jokes and having fun and then bringing the spirit right back in and settling the rowdy feelings instantly. I don't know how he does it, but he is so great. I love being at the institute. It's a safe haven and it is where I have met all my best friends (except Jill, who was through Cara, but because of institute, Jillian and I were able to become really good friends :))

I'm thankful for BOISE!!!! I love it here! and everyone else here! and I don't want to ever leave, but alas, I must.

DUCES!

Friday

LOGAN!!!

Not the place.
The girl.
Logan is one of my best friends of all time!!
This girl is amazing! and we owe it all to her mom, who is equally just as awesome!!!
If it wasn't for Logi, I would still have fun, but let's be serious, not NEAR as much fun as I do with her around.
A huge reason why we're even friends is because she's so chill.

A little tidbit about me is that I tend to have different groups of friends that, when merged, don't get along as well as I hope.
But with Logi, she gets along with pretty much everyone ever! And that's a huge deal to me! She's always there for me. She's going to be Aunt Gogi to my kids. (we've discussed it.)

First thing she thought of me though was "Freak!"

Wanna know why? Well I'll tell you. This bag-o-douche named Jared Monzello invited her to the movies later that night, and I'll admit, dude's pretty good looking, so I'm not surprised she totally went for it. But after he left, I turned to her and said "He's a creep, I wouldn't go if I were you." Enter "Freak!" comment...Turns out I was right, but she found out the hard way...well, not exactly the hard way, but she still found out for herself what I was talking about.

Anyways, she's one of the best things in my life right now.

Last night, for her birthday, we went to the Brad Paisley concert. It was AMAZING!! We saw

Easton Corbin ♥

Steel Magnolia,
(Josh Thompson was there, but we skipped him to go eat at the Ram, sooo good.)

Justin Moore

and Darius Rucker.

It was so much fun!
Here's Brad's mascot and opening acts ♥

Everyday is a party...especially with Logan around!!!

...oh yeah, and we're twins.

Sunday

The highlight of my night...

We were at Craig Robot's game night and we were playing Scum. Bronson was cheating, trying to get rid of one of his cards in the discard pile thing and i totally caught him in the act. So I picked up the card, hucked it at him, and i landed perfectly in his mouth. His face was priceless!! SOO funny!! Okay, I'm done.

Friday

Today's Contestant...

I've decided that today I'm going to appreciate Krista Nielson.

She's always a smiling face when I'm in need of cheering up.
She gives the best hugs and is just plain hilarious!!
We've had millions of good times and I only started hanging out with her like 9 months ago.
I've never known anyone that could be so happy about life when it seems like it's falling down around her. She's the best influence ever and definitely someone I look up to.

"So....You like country....."

Wednesday

hey hey do you wanna be famous?

I decided I'm going to blog everyday about someone in my life, past and present, that i just really appreciate! (I was thinking maybe i should do some about people i dislike, but that's too depressing.) SO, i've come up with this idea all by myself.

okay, so i got this inspiration from one of the best things in my life: Lindsey Oakes!!

Or Homecow.
or magical trevor (still don't know the story about that one..)
or slore. whatever you want to call her.
She's my BFF or whatever.
She was the first friend I had (other than the incredible Laura Jordan) when I moved up to Les Bois.

Linds and Lar at good ol' Merritts

Granted it took 5 months for her to find me.
The only reason she even started talking to me is because she was my visiting teacher at the time. (She only ever visit taught me once.)
But here's how a portion of our conversation went:
Lindsey: "You're funny. We should be friends."
Me: "srsly."

anyways, she's the funniest person ever. She's always there when i need a good laugh, and she's the funnest person to go on adventures with. srsly. i love this girl.

Probably one of the funnest bonfires ever!

Sunday

ahh, we meet again...

Tonight we dicided to go ice blocking.
To start out with, it was just Jeni, Spencer, and I, then we figured we should invite Sami. By the end of it, 7 people came.

So, it took a good 3 hours to finally get to Simplot Hill, mostly because people are slow-pokes, and I am including myself in this one. There were trains, singles, wrecks, jumps, flips, pain...the list goes on...eventually we moved from ice blocks to just rolling down the hill.

Probably the best thing ever. You get going so fast that you don't know where you're going to end up, all you can do is hope it's not in the middle of the street or on an ice block that had been carelessly left there to melt into the oblivion.

As we were about to leave and taking our final roll down the hill, a suburban drove by, turned into the parking lot, and 2 men came over and each picked up an ice block. They climbed up the hill and let us know that they had never done this before and were asking for our help and guidance. They were about 40 years old, which is the funny part.

We helped them out, and probably made their entire night. They were having so much fun! They thought it was the greatest thing in the world! It brought them back to childhood.

It was about 2 am by the time we finally left (Jeni and Jared were talking forever!) I'm really glad we all went. ILML!!!!

[sorry, no pictures were taken of this momentous event]

Tuesday

Just a thought for the day...

So, I just got done reading Lindsey's latest posts on her blog....she's slacking BIG TIME!! She made it a goal to write everyday. Her last post was September 3rd. It is now September 7. (Happy Birthday, Mom!!) (I should call her) Anyways, Lindsey needs some butt kicking because I'm an avid follower, and if she doesn't post, then there is nothing to avidly follow! Here's her blog address to the few of you who know what mine is:

The Tale of the Amazing Shrinking Old Navy Flip Flop

A couple months ago, Jillian left her black pair of flip flops in my car should she ever need them. Since then, she's been searching for them. Last night, I reminded her where they were. We were on our way to my house to have a slumber party in my basement and we decided we wanted some ice cream, so we stopped at Wal-Mart. Jillian thought, "I want my black flip flops." So she said "where are my black flip flops?" they weren't where I remember them being so when we got to the store, we looked in my trunk for the sandals. Jillian found them, put them on, and realized something was very off with the shoes. As in, one was about 3 sizes smaller than the other. Jill has small feet, and for this one to not fit her was outrageous! It completely boggled our minds. There was no way that this teeny-tiny flipper belonged to anyone else. So she walked around Wal-Mart with one normal sized thong and a itty bitty sized thong shoe. This morning I was looking at the shoes and it turns out the smaller flip-flopper used to be size 5-6. (It says so on the bottom.) Somehow the shoe, while it was sitting in my car over this nice hot summer, was shrunken to a much smaller size. I don't know how, but I think it's hilarious!

Thursday

Oh, Lexus!

So, one day, in the middle of May, a few of us headed out to Kuna after a neat little Steelheads hockey game to blow some bombs up. We got there at about 12am. The bomb of choice was a CO2 bomb. Which needed a CO2 cartridge and a 1-liter bottle of water (I learned the hard way). We brought a push pin to puncture a hole in the CO2 cartridge, but low and behold, it didn't work. After hours and hours of trying to get a hole in the CO2 cartridge, (...and by hours and hours, I mean, like, 30 minutes...) we decided to give up and go home. On our way to turn around, we noticed that we had an extremely flat tire. As you can see. It took all of us, except for Tom, to try and change it. We got the car jacked up and started to loosen the lug nuts, only to have the car tip and almost fall. So we moved the car to a more level spot in the road. The only problem with that is the dirt was a lot softer there so the jack just got driven into the ground more than jacking the car, and once again, it started to tip. Let me tell you...you would think that you would have nothing useful in your car after you had just cleaned it out...but in a situation like that, McGyver skills really start to kick in. Someone had the brilliant idea to take one of the floor mats out of the Lexus and lay it down under the jack so it would have more stability, and then we decided to loosen the lugs first, and then jack the car up. Seriously, when you get a car full of 6 people, the possibilities are endless. Ideas were flying left and right. It was tremendous. So, Wifey went around, loosening the lug nuts, and then she got to the special one. See, Lexus thinks their cars are so amazingly nice that people will want to steal their tires, so they put one locking lug nut on them. Which I can see is useful in a ghetto somewhere in Chicago, or something, but this is Boise, people! Come on! The key that goes to the locking lug nut would not work. Come to find out, the grooves in the lug were stripped, and the key wasn't that well off either. "We're not gonna get home til like 6 in the morning." -Celia the Wise.

"You drove a LEXUS to Kuna CAVES?!"

After literally hours of trying, we still could not get this thing off! Me, being the resourceful one I am, decide to call Bro. Littledike, who lives in Kuna, for some help. Keep in mind, this is at 2:30 on a Sunday morning. He didn't answer and so then I tried Andy Bailey, hoping against hope that he would finally decide to not screen my calls and answer. No such luck. I called five times, nothing. So Logan called her dad (Jim) and gave him the rundown of the evening. While she was on the phone with him, I remembered, my friend Zane has a tow truck! It's a long shot, but I wondered if he could get it back to where we were to rescue us. I called him, and it was as though he answered and then just hung up. So I tried again, and his phone was off. Tried a third time, and same thing. I was a little frustrated. (Come to find out, about 2 hours previous, he had quit his job, so no more tow truck!) Jim came to the rescue. Logan and Tyler thought it would be a pretty good idea to walk back to the road and meet Jim there so he could find us. Good thing they did, because he said he would have been completely lost if they hadn't. He brought an array of tools to try and get this lug nut off, but it would not budge. So, he decided the only option left was to go back home and get a trailer. Luckily he doesn't live THAT far away from where we were...we sent Tom and Carrie with him to help him hook it up. While we waited, Celia, Tyler, Logan, and I were sitting in Lexi just chatting and Celia says "I found a screwdriver in the back while I was looking for things to help with the tire. Do you want to try the bomb again?" HELL YEAH! We piled out of the car, got the stuff ready, put the bottle a safe distance from the car, and tried to put a hole in the cartridge. I had made a pretty good dent in the top and was trying to get the rest of the way through with a pair of scissors from the First Aid Kit (we were so lucky to have) and Tyler was telling me how he thought it would be a good idea and softly hit the scissors so they would put a hole in the cartridge, I was so focused on him talking to me, that when the scissors broke through the aluminum barrier, I fruck out! I ran to the bottle, throwing the scissors in the process, trying to keep the CO2 from leaking (mistake). I dropped the the cartridge into the bottle, and with shaking hands, tried to screw the cap back on. My adrenaline was pumping and I got frustrated, picked the bottle up, and chucked it. Walked back to the car and realized that I had lost the scissors. Everyone was laughing at my freak out...that is until I told them "Guys, I think I threw the scissors..." Good thing we had a flashlight with us, and good thing Logan is like a bloodhound. She found them, and we were off for a second try. This time we decided to keep the bottle with us, and then throw it after the cap was on...

"OH SH**!!!!"

I'm working on the next cartridge, fully focused this time. I get a hole in it, put it in the bottle, Logan caps it, and I run it...only one problem. When I went to throw it, I did quite the opposite, and I ended up dropping it right there. Ten feet from the car. I was freaking out, again. I'd never done this before so I wasn't sure what to expect from the reaction time of this bomb. I yelled an obscenity, and ran for cover, up, and around the car. Oh, hello, lava rock! I tripped, and totally ate it! *Cue next obscenity. I ripped open my shin just below my knee and landed in the ONLY freaking thorn bush around! Good thing my pain receptors were covered up by adrenaline and endorphins, because I did not feel any of it. As I sat there hyperventilating, Tyler was standing over me, trying to get me to stand up, pulling on my arm saying "Come on, get up!" I yelled at him. He took one look at my knee and said "Uh, guys! Come here, we need the First Aid kit." Logan and Celia were on the other side of the car yelling "Laura, come here!" and I yelled back, "I can't!" then they came over, took a look at me and immediately went to action. Celia grabbed the First Aid and a bottle of water (which we had for the bombs)and my nurse, Logan, cleaned and bandaged me up, I didn't even cry! Meanwhile, I'm worried about the bomb. I didn't want it to explode while we were sitting there, but we were all curious as to why it hadn't gone off yet, so Tyler started throwing rocks at it. All they did was bounce off and make a really cool noise. When we decided that was enough fun for the night, we got back in the car and waited for Jim, Carrie, (not to be confused with Jim Carrey) and Tom to get back. Talking about the fact that we were in the middle of nowhere so if some creeper happened upon us and murdered us all, no one would know. Welcome, Paranoid Laura. I was not at ease, and to top it off, I was started to get feeling back in my knee. It was throbbing.

The Third Incident...

We were convinced that after all of this had happened that there was one more incident that awaited us, because they always come in threes. First was the tire, next was the knee, and last...well, we were afraid to find out what was going to happen next. It was almost 4 by this time and it seemed as though Jim was taking forever, just then, I got a text from Carrie that said "a train at 4 in the morning? really?!" Apparently said train was really long too, so they were there for a good time before being able to cross the tracks. When they finally got there, it took a while to get the car loaded onto the trailer, but they did it! We were out of there by about 4:30 am. It took a while to get back to Logan's house, but when we finally did, we piled up in their suburban, got all comfy coze, and then found out the car was out of gas. REALLY MOM?! YOU DIDN'T FILL IT UP ON YOUR WAY PASSED THE MAVERIK?!! So, the 6 of us hopped into Logan's Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Tight squeeze, and people sitting laps. I got home at about 5:30, which means everyone else got home around 6. Nice call Celia!

The Nicest Man Ever

While the rest of us were sleeping and then churching it up, Logan's dear dad stayed up working on Celia's tire. He couldn't get the thing off to save his life. So, finally, he asked his neighbor who has a ratchet gun, for help. It took about 700 libbies of pressure to get that one lug nut off! Jim didn't get to sleep until 2 that afternoon. Seriously, the best example of service for someone you don't even know. Now, $900 and 4 new tires later, the Lexus is running good!

Moral of the story:

When you have a bad feeling about going somewhere, listen to it...it will probably save you a lot of pain, suffering, and money.
